Oh, Bath. It’s so lovely here. Bath is my favorite day trip out of London, and, trust me, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that must be seen to be believed.
Back in the Regency period, Bath was known as the fashion capital of high society. This darling town with an old-world vibe truly feels like stepping back in time. Seriously, it may be the closest thing you’ll get to starring in Bridgerton. Escorted promenades around the park, please and thanks!
The city is rich in history. After all, it’s known for its Roman baths dating back to 70 AD. Despite all its history, Bath isn’t all ancient monuments and Regency England— no, no Bath is so much more than that. Here you’ll find beautiful sights, charming streets, shops, dining, and more. It’s a special day trip that’ll lend you a respite from London.

How to get to Bath from London
Take the Great Western Railway at London Paddington Station (PAD) to Bath Spa (BTH). These trains run frequently, and the journey is direct, at about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
A City Girl’s Guide to Bath
The Royal Crescent

Bath makes you feel like a character in Bridgerton, so naturally, I recommend you take a promenade around the city (unchaperoned because we’re crazy like that). Ditch the petticoat and admire all the lovely Regency homes. While on your walk, you cannot miss the Royal Crescent. Aptly named, the Royal Crescent is a series of townhouses shaped like a crescent. These homes, surrounded by lush green gardens, are a spectacular sight.
Sit for Afternoon Tea
One of my favorite activities to do in Bath is to sit for afternoon tea. There is something about the town’s ties to the Regency era that makes sitting for a leisurely afternoon tea especially felicitous. I recommend booking a table at The Bath Priory Hotel for a picturesque tea on their garden terrace.

Roman Baths
Take a glimpse into the ultimate self-care routine from long ago. Bath feels like stepping back in time, and that is especially true at the city’s famous Roman Baths (hence the city’s name). This historic site lets you wander through ancient ruins where natural hot springs still bubble as they did nearly 2,000 years ago.
Pulteney Bridge

When in Bath, you’re likely to stumble upon the Pulteney Bridge. This bridge is lined by the River Avon with shops on both sides, which means you can spend all day lingering around this beautiful area. I love to slow down, grab a coffee, and stop into all the little boutiques against the backdrop of the bridge. The Pulteney Bridge is truly straight out of a postcard.
Royal Victoria Park
Just a short walk from the Royal Crescent, Royal Victoria Park is Bath’s manicured, serene, green oasis. Think sweeping lawns, tree-lined paths, and a colorful botanical garden. It’s easy to envision yourself carrying a parasol and gossiping about town scandals as you stroll the gardens.

Bath Abbey

Right in the center of Bath, you can’t miss the stunning Bath Abbey. It’s a peaceful spot to pause during your day of exploring, and if you’re up for a little climb, the tower tour gives you some of the best views in the city. After your visit, I recommend grabbing a spot in the surrounding square to enjoy the musicians filling the area with live music.
