The Ultimate Guide to Coconut Grove, Miami

Located on beautiful Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove is one of Miami’s oldest neighborhoods. The Grove has gone through a lot of changes. Today, the neighborhood is one of Miami’s most exciting neighborhoods, but it still holds onto its slow-paced, familiar, leafy charm.

Unlike neighborhoods like Brickell and Downtown, Miami natives actually enjoy spending time in the Grove. That’s because this tropical oasis has a slow-paced relaxing vibe, is pedestrian-friendly, and, not to mention, it’s quickly becoming a foodie’s paradise.

There’s a little something for everyone here— nature, art, food, shopping, and entertainment. Use this guide to help plan the perfect day in beloved Coconut Grove.

What To Do

Regatta Grove

Regatta Grove is a waterfront venue filled with everything you need for a great night out. Whether you’re coming for the renowned food trucks, quality cocktails, or chilled open-air vibes, the Grove’s newest hotspot highlights everything that Miami does right. It doesn’t get much better than enjoying a cocktail against the backdrop of beautiful Biscayne Bay.

The Kampong

The Kampong is a tropical botanical garden that shows off tropical plants and flora in tremendous style. Take a walk through this intimate sanctuary to experience lush landscapes and beautiful trails.

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

This national historic landmark tucked away on Biscayne Bay is an Italian-Renaissance villa that transports visitors back in time. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens honors old-world romanticism in a fast-paced city. Here, you can enjoy a couple hours touring the villas’ tremendous gardens and ornate interior decor.

Coconut Grove Organic Farmers Market

The Coconut Grove Organic Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 10 AM- 6 PM, and it’s a must-visit if you’re in the area during this time. There’s an extensive selection of fresh fruit, veggies, seeds, and seasonal ingredients so fresh that you’ll keep coming back weekend after weekend.

Cinépolis

In my opinion, Cinépolis in the Grove is Miami’s best all-around cinema. I can’t help but feel quite luxe here because the entire food and drink menu is delivered right to your seat at the press of a button. The service is amazing and the food transcends typical mediocre cinema food. Everything off the menu is top-notch and, surprisingly, I’m skipping nachos for poke bowls at this theater.

David T. Kennedy Park

David T. Kennedy Park highlights the quintessential beauty of this waterfront neighborhood. At this park, there are accessible walking trails, volleyball courts, and dog-friendly areas that make it the perfect spot for a breath of fresh air.

Books & Books

Books & Books is a two-storied bookshop filled to the brim with absolute gems. This cozy, well-curated bookstore is a local favorite and it’s hard to walk out without making at least one purchase (the cookbook and travel selection has my whole heart).

The key to a beautiful afternoon in the Grove is swinging by the shop’s neighbor, Panther Coffee, for a drink while you dive into your new book.

Eats

El Bagel

This is El Bagel’s second location in the city and, just like its former location, expect a hungry line out the door. Mirroring quick-service New York bagel shops, these bagels are on another level. They’ve got classics like BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese) and Lox, but they’re also serving creative items like guava with cream cheese.

Le Bouchon du Grove

Bonjour, Miami! Le Bouchon du Grove is perhaps the most romantic restaurant in the Grove. French classics, incredible wine, and low-light ambiance set this gem apart from some of the buzzier restaurants in the neighborhood.

Sapore Di Mare

Cacio e Pepe cheese wheel. Enough said.

While this intimate Italian restaurant is best known for its off-the-menu Cacio e Pepe cheese wheel, their menu is full of comfort Italian seafood dishes that transport you straight to Italy. Sapore Di Mare is a must-visit in the neighborhood.

GreenStreet Cafe

GreenStreet is a Coconut Grove classic. Their all-American menu is stacked with comfort meals that prove time and time that GreenStreet is a reliable and delicious favorite.

Bombay Darbar

Bombay Darbar serves classic, dynamic Indian fare that some people claim is the best Indian food in all of Miami. The jury is still out on that one, but WOW is this place worth all the praise. At Bombay Darbar, you’ll enjoy authentic Indian cuisine against the glow of neon-purple lights. Sounds kind of odd, but it’s insanely delicious.

The Key Club

The Key Club is the place to go for a fun night out and a spectacular meal to go with your tropical ambience. Opened by famed restaurateur David Grutman, The Key Club is chic, yet approachable, serving classics with an upscale twist.

Monty’s Raw Bar

Monty’s is a beloved seaside establishment that’ll transport you right to the Florida Keys. The seafood selection is reminiscent of a beach vacation, where dinner is served under a tropical tiki hut. Its live music scene and happy hour deals make Monty’s the perfect getaway.

Drinks

Level 6 Rooftop Bar

Level 6 is a rooftop bar that serves incredible cocktails and tapas. This bar is one of the most romantic spots in the neighborhood for date night. Everything here is pricey— I recommend grabbing one drink before your dinner reservation or sipping on a sweet little nightcap before heading home.

Sadelle’s Coffee Bar

This classic New York establishment has migrated south and the Miami dining scene just got a little bit cooler for it. It goes without saying how iconic Sadelle’s is. However, right next door to the airy, tiffany blue dining room is a connecting coffee bar that serves my favorite coffee in the neighborhood. Stop by for an iced latte before you explore all that Coconut Grove has to offer.
